A smattering of recent posts from the blawgosphere and beyond
- “Reason #23,4593 people don’t trust companies” from Community Guy. This is the second “you don’t really understand PR, do you?” story I read today. Here’s the first, from Daily Kos. Think you know what you’re doing? So do Ty and AP. You’d better double-check.
- “Stephen Fry stuck in elevator, Twittering” from Kottke.org. It will take you a total of 90 seconds to see one of the greatest “Power of Twitter” demonstrations you’ll ever see. Really.
- “How to beat the system to get a great job” from Penelope’s Trunk. It’s not “really” about beating the system. It’s about taking responsibility for your own future. Get out there and do it, and you’ll win.
- “Is your professional services firm at its own ‘Hinge Point’ of history?” from Pivotal Branding. Isn’t it all about value? Good honest value? Add value to your clients as you both struggle through the economic crisis, and they will remember you when it’s over.
- “Stop blaming me for killing your newspaper” from Rex Hammond’s Weblog. The title may give away the moral of the story, but it is definitely worth a read. It’s not just about newspapers, but every industry unwilling or unable to adapt to the changes technology is bringing.
- “Hilarious Thumb-Drive Cake Mistake” from Wired’s Gagdet Lab blog. This is funny and will make you laugh. Will it make you think? How many times has someone done the wrong thing for you because they were dumb? Think your instructions could have been the problem? Neither did this guy.
- “How Much Is $900 Billion? Try Spending It $1 Million at a Time” from The Numbers Guy at WSJ. I love this guy. His blog makes me smart, and does it with some really neat stuff. You’ll see what I mean when you read this post.
